About
The Bujinkan (武神館) dojo is devoted to the study and practice of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (武神館武道体術), as taught by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, Sōke (Grandmaster).
Rooted in the traditions of Budo (武道), or the “Way of the Warrior,” the Bujinkan preserves a martial system shaped over centuries. Often associated with Ninjutsu, this art reflects a lineage passed down through generations, encompassing over 900 years of combative knowledge, strategy, and refinement.
Training focuses on the underlying principles that make techniques effective—balance, timing, distance, and control—rather than relying on strength or competition. Students learn to respond to realistic situations, with an emphasis on adaptability and practical application. The goal is not sport, but the cultivation of genuine martial skill. As Sōke Hatsumi has described it, Budo Taijutsu is “the art of distance,” where positioning and awareness define success.
