Learning the fighting spirit for Survival

You would think learning aggression and a fighting spirit for the purpose of self-defense would create meatheads but instead, it creates a friendly and caring group keen to support and help each other learn. Of the many self-defense groups we tried, this was the only one that focused strongly on awareness, pre-emptive, and understanding consequences, and teaches it well. It's not just about fighting as martial arts schools that combine a self-defense element to their schools tend to be.
The co-directors and instructors are very supportive of students with a history of having been attacked. They also run women's only self-defense workshops regularly. Given the broad range of strength, size, and level of students, they are very safety conscious without impinging on training. They create an entertaining environment to learn in without getting too serious all the time.
It took us awhile to get onto them, but we're glad we did!
