Excellent Chatswood wing chun training

I started training a few years ago with International Wing Chun Academy. I found the structure of the company to be excellent. The focus of working towards the goal of a grading worked well for me to achieve grade 1.

The trainers Nelson and Blaise with their knowledge and many years of experience were phenomenal.

They made the training concept easy to grasp and made it fun.

I had to cease training due to medical reasons, but the academhelped where they could.

As the academy and training was affected been affected by Covid 19 from start to finish of my 2 years I still managed to receive a great amount of quality training.

Best Wing Chun school in Sydney

I've been a huge fan of Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do since watching Enter the Dragon as a kid. I grew up in Melbourne where another branch of Wing Chun is popular, but their teaching methods just didn't appeal to me. Fast forward 10 years and I'm working as a contractor in Brisbane and training at a Wong Shun Leung school. Their training was hard but more about conditioning than technique. Now, 35 years into my existence, I've finally made it down to Sydney. First thing I did before even signing my lease was to come and try a class at IWCA. I always knew of the school and had heard good things especially about GM Jim Fung, but I had no idea what I'd been missing out on until I got to touch hands with their instructors. I learned more in that one lesson than I would have learned in months at my previous schools. There's a big emphasis on structure and the instructors here know what they're talking about. Some even come from engineering backgrounds like myself and understand the science behind what's going on. Tristan, Simon, Steve, you guys are doing great work. Keep it up.

Try a class and make up your own mind

Before joining IWCA I trained at another school (which shall not be named) for about 2 years. The main teacher would make a point of denigrating IWCA in some way almost every single lesson - "Too big, too commercial, not authentic. .." Then one day I learned that a colleague at my workplace was a member of IWCA, so I started talking to him about his training. He had nothing but praise for IWCA and encouraged me to join him for a class. Since that day, I have not once looked back. The training at IWCA is well structured and results oriented, plus you get a lot of time with the instructors. It's sad that there's so much jealousy around, but haters gonna hate. .. If you're interested in learning Wing Chun, I suggest you go to IWCA to try a class and then make up your own mind.

Knowledgeable, well resourced, friendly.

The instructors and students are very friendly and welcoming, respectful, and eager to share their insights and learnings. The facilities are clean and well managed.

Importantly, the opening times and class sessions are very flexible, allowing me to walk in at any time. I've spent years trudging painfully through wing chun schools being run out of garages and people's living rooms, so it's terrific to finally learn at a place that looks and feels the part of a professional organisation.

I'd heard a lot of ugly rumours in the past, but I am glad to have found that none of it is true. I'm glad I gave it a shot.

Have been there for quite some time. I remember I was afraid to get punch in the face the first day I walk in the door. People there is unexpected friendly, and helpful. This remove my fear straight away.

Instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Their teaching is precise and able to help you to progress.

Not only the instructors are friendly, but also the student there. Students like to help each other, eager to learn.

Beside all these, tuition fee is average, affordable. It's help as my budget is not high.

Highly recommend this school!

Joined back in 2014. First impression was good. After years I realised that they are fake. They are very concerned about what I am posting on Facebook and who my friends are. Not sure why they call themselves International when they are barely in Sydney. Owner is a very egotistical person.

Spent 3 years in Sydney HQ branch and after certain levels there is no much instruction happening. The best instructors left or they where force to leave. The remaining 2-3 are not that good. Only option is to travel to Adelaide where there are fist students of Sifu Jim. They are very friendly.

When I first walked in the door, I was impressed by the friendly, non-intimidating nature of this school. What this school lacked in bravado, it made up for in the quality of its instruction. The instructors I have trained under are both highly skilled and excellent at communicating their skills to students. I can say that this is the most worthwhile martial arts school that I have trained at in my two decades or so of experience. Long live International Wing Chun Academy!
