A Wonderful and Practical Place to Learn Martial Arts/Self Defence

My sons and I were interested in trying something different and decided on Jishukan at Erindale PCYC. We had come across from Aikido. We immediately recognized that the rolling and falling techniques learnt in Aikido (with few little practical tweaks), were almost the same! The instruction is very practical and expertly done. The practicality of the style for self-defence (particularly for children) has been a revelation. Jishukan incorporates the best practical elements of karate, judo and jujitsu and is taught to the capabilities of each student. The style is very good for fitness and is family and beginner friendly. The teachers and black belts are excellent role models for their classes and the atmosphere of the classes is warm and welcoming. Parents also have the wonderful opportunity to train alongside their children in the open-junior class (one hour) and then train on in the seniors class afterwards. Kids respond very well to the style and are enthusiastically engaged with the lessons. Highly recommended.
