BJDA is a dedicated Bujinkan Dojo that teaches traditional Japanese martial arts including Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (Ninjutsu).
The Bujinkan is an international martial art organisation which is based in Japan and headed by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is the name given to the system that is taught, which consists of the following nine traditional schools:
Togakure-ryu Ninpo Taijutsu (戸隠流忍法体術)
Gyokko-ryu Kosshijutsu (玉虎流骨指術)
Kukishinden Happo Bikenjutsu (九鬼神伝流八法秘剣術)
Koto-ryû Koppojutsu (虎倒流骨法術)
Shinden Fudo-ryû Dakentaijutsu (神伝不動流打拳体術)
Takagi Yoshin-ryû Jutaijutsu (高木揚心流柔体術)
Gikan-ryû Koppojutsu (義鑑流骨法術)
Gyokushin-ryû Ninpo (玉心流忍法)
Kumogakure-ryû Ninpo (雲隠流忍法)
Training covers a wide range of fighting and self defense skills including unarmed combat, striking methods, joint locks, throws, rolling, break falls and weapons. The student studies the use of timing, distancing, balance and footwork to create a natural defensive skill rather than relying on memorized techniques. Training deals with real life skills and students learn to deal with armed and unarmed attacks as well as multiple opponents and the use of various traditional and improvised weapons
