Martial Arts Spirit is one of Australia’s highest qualified and respected Taekwondo clubs. Our exceptional team of instructors teach their art with passion and humility and strive to use these values in their everyday lives. When we train our students we aim to simultaneously condition their body mind and soul. We are wholly concerned with how the student develops both as an athlete and as a person. The Fernandez family have endeavoured to help the community achieve its goals, whether those goals involve weight loss, fitness or even to become a national champion. At present there are 5 club grounds, Prestons full time centre, Green Valley, Liverpool Catholic Club Sports Complex, Cabravale and Drummoyne.

MINI RANGERS PROGRAM(3-7):This program provides young students with an opportunity to overcome these milestones through martial arts principles.

These growing years are by far the most crucial to the creation of who a child is as an individual. The values and experiences that they are instilled with at this early age will remain with them for the rest of their lives and shape who they are as an adult. It is important that we teach them what is right and wrong, good and bad at this stage.

Whilst our Mini Rangers learn the foundations of martial arts, what we really focus on in our program is involving all the students in a team environment where participation is encouraged and rewarded through praise.

MARTIAL RANGERS PROGRAM (8-12):Our Martial Rangers program is specified for 7-12 year olds. It exercises martial arts concepts in a more athletic manner and focuses on refining the physical skills that children have acquired and are already developing. At this stage of growth and development we are also weary of the cognitive and emotional changes that children are going through and we encourage strict implementation of martial arts values – particularly respect and self control – as part of each student’s holistic approach to training. In summary the Martial Rangers program focuses on:

Refining and developing gross and fine motor skills through martial arts training; Health, physical fitness and flexibility, which is very important for growing bodies; Understanding positive martial arts principles and how they should apply to students’ everyday lives; and
Building sociable individuals through team-building exercises and group interaction.

The program also provides an exciting opportunity to venture into competitive Olympic training. For the students who show interest in this area of training, we begin to introduce them to competitive training drills and tactics. We also teach them about the rules and requirements for sparring and various poomsae events. Our attitude towards training is different to that of many other martial arts schools: We use competition as a confidence and team building tool for our club and students.

TAEKWONDO PROGRAM (Teens and Adults): Our Taekwondo program includes our teens and adults programs. Physically it focuses on fitness, strength and technique, cognitively it focuses on problem solving through sparring tactics and poomsae patterns. From this program, we encourage participation in competitive sparring and poomsae performance. It provides as great opportunity to travel for tournaments with your team and make new friends.

Another branch of our Taekwondo program, poomsae is a fantastic way to improve technique and memory in martial arts. It requires students to learn patterns respective to their training level. In Taekwondo tournaments, it is quickly becoming popularized as it is branching out into more showmanship style performing such as musical, creative and pair poomsae. We encourage everyone to participate in poomsae competition to represent our club as we believe it is great for building self-confidence and is an opportunity to compete even if you don’t want to spar against other people.

CARDIO COMBAT PROGRAM: This program is targeted for teenagers and adults looking to get fit and back into shape. The program involves a variety of training methods learned from around the world even in different military armies tailored to suit your level of fitness and strength. Our instructors experiences and knowledge training and around the world make every class different and challenging. If you are looking to hit the mit and get fit this program is perfect for you.

Our Cardio Combat hosts seasonal 8 Week Challenge Programs that are aimed at increasing your fitness and taking you to that next level. Over coming Personal Best challenges and creating a positive mindset to continue with after the program.
