WHAT WE STAND FOR
Our Mission:
To develop confident and capable students' who have acquired the knowledge and understanding of Shotokan Karate, who can make informed choices about their own personal safety and utilise the practice in a safe and responsible manner.
Skills and understanding developed throughout our karate practice are for the purpose and use INSIDE the dojo. We do not encourage use of skills and knowledge gained from our training in any uncontrolled environment especially in schools, homes or public areas. Students at Newcastle Shotokan Karate-Do are taught to walk away from conflict and not to engage an aggressor and that it is only OK to use their karate in SELF-DEFENCE and defense of others only as a last resort.
Classes provide students aged from 6 years to adult the opportunity to learn more about the philosophy of karate whilst developing basic skills of team work, cooperation, focus, self-control, balance, flexibility and fitness.
Students are taught the basic fundamentals of karate, including how to kick, punched block through fun drills and specialized drills designed specifically to encourage practice and repetition of basic karate moves in an atmosphere where students are engaged, having fun and wanting more
