We hold weekly meeting in Katori shinto ryu Kobudo, an 900 year old art. The art form centres around the Japanese sword ( katana) and also includes other weapons, such as spear and staff, and non-weapon skills, etc. This is not a made up composite from karate and kendo or something like that, but a bonefide tradition.
The group consists of friendly people coming together to study and share a deep old tradition.
Training begins with a period of Zen meditation.
There are no age limits, though we don't recommend beginners be over 50 years of age. The only requirement is an ability to get on with others, listen to instruction and respect knowledge and tradition and the responsibilty that goes with that.
